INS: Benefit Class Setup

Overview

A Benefit Class is a list of Benefit Types. You must set up at least one Benefit Type before setting up a Benefit Class.

Benefit Classes are assigned in the Employee Master File Pay Info tab by double-clicking the Title field to open the Titles list. You can use a Benefit Class to automatically assign a Benefit Template to an employee by job title. You can also use a benefit class to connect a benefit type to a general ledger (GL) account number and a job number for deduction syncing purposes. Some examples of a benefit class include Executive, Hourly, and Salary.

The benefit class is used to set the default general ledger (GL) number and the default job number when the deductions are created or updated from the Deduction Sync when it interfaces with the Payroll module.

The Rollover button on the toolbar is available when you are on a current record. You can rollover (copy) from one Benefit Class Setup to another. For more information on see Setting Up a Benefit Class and Rollover Functionality.

The Benefit Class Setup screen may be accessed from the WinTeam Insurance Benefits menu.
