PS Security Troubleshooting Steps

The release of PS 5.x has changed the way security impacts important scheduling functions. If you are having trouble with some of these functions, such as scheduling overtime, please review the troubleshooting steps below.

Verify Custom Security Groups have Shift Details Screen Security

While Shift Details screen security is a part of PS security groups such as PS ALL and PS Schedules, if you have any custom security groups you will need to add security for this screen.

  1. Click Security Groups from the System module.
  2. Lookup any groups that will need security for the Shift Details screen.
  3. In the Screens list, select PS Shift Details from the drop down.

Verify Custom Security Groups have Job Information and/or Employee Information Screen Security

With the proper security, double-clicking on the Job Number or Employee Number fields can bring up the Job Information or Employee Information screens. If you have any custom security groups you will need to add security for these screens or double-clicking on the fields with bring up the Job Master File or Employee Master File.

  1. Click Security Groups from the System module.
  2. Lookup any groups that will need security for the Job Information and/or Employee Information screens.
  3. In the Screens list, select Job Information and/or Employee Information from the drop own.

Verify that Users have Appropriate PS User Security

Security options that were previously controlled through the use of passwords can now be controlled via User Security.

  1. Click User Security from the System module.
  2. In the PS Security section, select the appropriate User Security Options:
    • Can Bypass Compliance Requirements- Allows a user to schedule Employees that have Compliance exceptions. Compliance is set up in HR: Compliance Tracking Codes For more information about Compliance security, see Setting Up Security for Personnel Schedules.
    • Can Schedule Overlapping Shifts - Allows a user to schedule the same Employee to shifts that overlap. This security is useful for Schedulers who have may need to enter adjustments (such as vacation) but do not have access to Timekeeping.
    • Can Schedule Overtime - Allows a user to schedule Employees who will be in overtime.
    • Can Exceed Post Pay Rate - Allows a user to schedule Employees whose pay rate exceeds the Post Pay Rate, which is set up in PS: Post Setup.
    • Can Offer Position - Allows a user to offer an open position to Employees through the Search for Eligible Employees screen.
