Service Provider Setup
Overview
You can use the Service Provider Setup window to enter settings for each service provider that provides paging support for your company.
The Service Provider Setup window is accessed by:
- Double-clicking in the Emergency Pager field in TeamTime Defaults or
- Double-clicking in the Supervisor field in the Employee Master File, then double-clicking in the Pager ID field or
- Double-clicking in the Supervisor field in the Job Master File, then double-clicking in the Pager ID field
Note: The SMS message character limit is usually set to 140, but it can vary by provider.
Key Functionality
WinTeam automatically assigns an ID to each new record, and uses the ID field to identify each record. You may change system-assigned ID Numbers.
Use this field to enter a unique name for the record. After a new record is created, WinTeam displays this Description with the corresponding ID number in the Add/Edit list.
Select the Supports TAP Protocol check box if the paging company supports the TAP Protocol. The TAP Protocol is used with alpha-numeric and digital pagers. If this is selected, TAP Protocol Settings need to be entered.
If this provider does not support the TAP Protocol, clear this check box. Once cleared, the TAP Protocol Settings are grayed out, and no further entry is required except for the Pager Delay (in seconds).
Select the Use Email Paging check box if you plan on paging using text messages. If this option is selected, the Provider ISP field displays.
Select this check box to make the selected record the default value for this Add/Edit list. WinTeam uses this record to automatically fill in the corresponding field on a new record in the related screen.
The Provider ISP field displays if Email Paging is selected. Enter the ISP address of your service provider.
If the Supports TAP check box is selected the TAP Protocol Settings display.
Alpha Terminal Number
Use the Alpha Terminal Number field to enter the modem number at the provider site. Any prefix or suffixes needed to dial out must also be entered.
Page Detail Level
Use the Page Detail Level field to select the number of characters transmitted to the pager. The length of the page may be from 40 to 240 characters.
Note: Based on your service providers limits, the limits set here may not actually display on the message. Most service providers set SMS messages character limits to 140. If you set the address to MMS instead of SMS it could increase the character limit.
Supports TAP Protocol for Digital Pagers
Select the Supports TAP Protocol check box if the service provider allows for paging to digital pagers. If this option is not selected, the Pager Delay field becomes available for entering the number of seconds for the delay.
Generate Voice Mail Message for Alpha Numeric Pagers
Select the Generate Voice Mail Message for Alpha Numeric Pagers check box to allow voice mail message to be left in the supervisors mailbox. Since the relevant information is transmitted to the beeper, this option is normally not selected. If this option is selected, the system pages the beeper and leaves a message in the supervisor's voice mailbox.
Baud Rate
Use the Baud Rate field to enter the Baud Rate the service provider uses on it's end to receive the page information. Check with your service provider for this number. If you do not know the Baud Rate, enter 300 in the field.
Parity, Start, Stop Bits
Use the Parity, Start, Stop Bits field to indicate the pager settings. Most paging companies use the E,7,1 (Even, Start at 7, Stop Bit 1) combination. The other option available is the N,8,1 (None, Start at 8, Stop Bit 1) combination. Check with your service provider for this information. If you do not have this information, use the E,7,1 combination.
Max Characters Per Block
Use the Max Characters Per Block field to enter the maximum characters per screen that display. Check with your service provider for this information.
Pager Delay
This option is available if the Supports TAP Protocol for Digital Pagers option is NOT selected.
You must enter a value, in seconds, for if the Pager Delay Supports TAP Protocol for Digital Pagers option is NOT selected.
