Examples of Minimum and Maximum Alternate Pay Rates
Assume that an Hours Description (for an Hours Category for a particular Job) has an Minimum Alternate Pay Rate amount of $8.00 and a Maximum Alternate Pay Rate amount of $9.00.
Example: Assume that an employee’s pay rate is normally $7.50 per hour and this employee has the Accept Alternate Pay Rates option selected in the Pay Information screen of the Employee Master File. In Timekeeping, if an employee has time entered for this Hours Description for this Job, then this employee will be paid $8.00 per hour because the Minimum Alternate Pay Rate amount is $8.00.
Example: Assume that an employee’s pay rate is normally $9.50 per hour, and this employee has the Accept Alternate Pay Rates option selected in the Pay Information screen of the Employee Master File. In Timekeeping, if an employee has time entered for this Hours Description for this Job, then this employee will be paid only $9.00 per hour, because the Maximum Alternate Pay Rate amount is $9.00.
It is important to note that during payroll processing the employee pay rate for the work date is checked against the Date Rate Effective (on the Hours Categories screen) and if the work date is equal to or greater than the Date Rate Effective date and there are Alternate Pay Rates then the system will use the current Alternate Pay Others. If the work date is less than the Date Rate Effective date the system will use the Previous Alternate Pay Rates.
