WT: Filtering Options in the Right Click Menu
Overview
When you need a quick filter applied to the data you have displayed, try to right click. The right-click functionality provides the quickest way to filter on a specific field without leaving the screen.
Note: The right click filter function is not available on every field, but you can find it on most.
Use the Filter by Selection option to display records that contain the value in the field.
Right click on the field value and select Filter by Selection.
Use the Filter by Exclusion option to display records that do not contain the value in the field.
Right click on the field value and select Filter by Exclusion.
To display all records that have any value in the field
- Go to a new record
- Go to any field that is normally filled in (for instance a required field).
- Right click, and then select Filter by Exclusion.
- This will then create a filter of all records that contain some value in the field you selected for exclusion.
These options are available when records are displayed. If the window displays no records this option will not work.
To sort in ascending order, right click the field and select Sort Ascending. For descending order, right click the field and select Sort Descending.
Note: For combo boxes, the system uses the ID for sorting, not the Description.
If you currently have a filter applied, the system includes only the filtered recordset in the Filter For search.
If the system finds no records for the item you are filtering for, you will receive this message:
From combo boxes, right click, and select Filter For.
Select from the list (use the arrow) or type in the description you want to filter for and press enter.
From a Text field, right click and select Filter For.
Type in the value that you are searching for and press enter.
From a Quick Lookup field, the Filter For option is the same as it is for a Text field (since it is an alpha-numeric field).
Enter the value you are looking for and press enter.
From a Numeric, Currency or Percent field, right-click and select Filter For.
Enter the numeric value you are looking for and press enter.
From a Date field, right click, and select Filter For.
Enter the date you are searching for and press enter.
From a check box, right click, and select Filter For.
The check box Filter For: will default to unchecked (not selected).
To filter for all records that do NOT have this check box selected, your filter is ready to apply.
To filter for all records that have this check box selected, select the check box and then apply the filter.
