Lighthouse - Mobile Device Management (MDM) FAQ

Mobile Device Management (MDM) is software that allows IT administrators to control, secure and enforce policies on your mobile devices.

Lighthouse does not provide a MDM system, but you can use a third-party MDM system with Lighthouse. Generally, they are part of your broader Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) system or strategy.

No, but it is recommended. MDM's allows you to optimize the functionality and security of mobile devices your field workers are using to run Lighthouse. With a MDM system you are able to remotely provision and update the application (meaning it's much easier to make sure your whole field gets critical updates). Also, you can lock device settings that may be required to take advantage of all of Lighthouse features.

Our customers deploy a range of systems, including Samsung's Knox, AirWatch, MAAS 360 and many others. We do not have a relationship with any single system. Each have their own advantages and trade-offs that should be considered in the context of your company's broad EMM strategy.

If you are using a MDM system, there are a list of settings we recommend be controlled via the MDM.
