On March 18, 2020, the United States passed into law the FFCRA (Families First Coronavirus Response Act). This act provides paid sick leave coverage for employees working for companies that employ under 500 people, and gives those companies quick access to recover the cost of such coverage through payroll tax refunds. It also extends the Family and Medical Leave act for certain situations that extend beyond 2 weeks. This law takes effect on April 1, 2020 and runs through December 31, 2020. There is a 30 day non-enforcement grace period to allow you time to ensure you are in compliance with the law.
